Happy Thanksgiving!

We are thankful, so thankful, every single day. And our reasons for gratitude are too many to count. The girls did our requisite gratitude turkeys and we thanked our kind friends Arnold and his wife Jessica for bringing us along to an ex-pat gathering at a restaurant owned by one of Arnold’s friends/clients.

The live music inspired Alys and me to get on that dance floor 🙂
Marion. I think the kids asking for money here is showing with the thankful to not have to beg 😦
Alys. Should we be concerned how many gratitudes relate to pie?
After our lesson on Thanksgiving, indigenous peoples and all this is what Alys took away: how the table was spread.

In true Cabigting fashion, we had more than one thanksgiving (I mean, really, why break tradition now?…just because we’re in a country that doesn’t celebrate it? and we don’t really have any friends or family which is the main excuse for the gorging? Please.) we had bought all the makings (as close as we could) for a turkey day feast but when we invited Arnold and fam they trumped us with an invite of our own where we were promised other kids. Hard to pass up for our little munchkins craving other little people. So with our already purchased chickens and kilos of squash what could we do?

The girls and I had a great time making pie from scratch, cooking kalabasa to replace the pumpkin, and Chad’s fan dried chickens were amazing!

Who knew oil pie crust could be so delicious?
