A day at home

I think we might be the luckiest folk around. Yes we are our in the boonies a bit, but there happens to be a hotel down the road less than a five minute walk…with a pool!

And a slide!

We were talking about what made the hotel less nice than any in Hawaii, because it was really nice, we think it’s maybe just paint. And faded/ripped flags. It was nearly deserted except a group of three 20 somethings sitting a table drinking San mig (THE beer) and later when we came back in the evening a bigger family group.

Our errand day to town led to some exciting times for the girls: mostly discovering an arcade in the mall that cost about $4 for an hour plus of bells and whistles and ticket winning fun!

Get it Buoy
The intensity level we like to teach our kids in competition: focus before fun! 😆
Chaolong i. e. Pho, tasty enough but I’ll stick to Than Brothers, or fingers crossed Vietnam. Not a huge fan of the added sweetness
Our none tourist day included paying this lovely lady to wash our clothes…so yes, SUPER spoiled tourists. Felt a bit guilty her scrubbing by hand all our smelly garb but I for sure would not get our things half so clean.
Marion was very interested in the washing and “maybe” wanted to help, but I wasn’t sure how to broach that and also felt it might make things more work for her. Marion and I will do our next load 🙂

Another great benefit to staying where we are is our host’s stepdad is a fisherman and caught fresh crab in the mangrove lined waters behind the house. And then sold us one for dinner! To top that, Odette, our host, helped Chad cook it AND they provided a coconut picked from a backyard tree and ground that minute for the milk marinade. So flipping good!! And who knew the girls would be so enamored with the crab. Chad and I didn’t get nearly our half!

Fresh crab
Fresh coconut and veggies
Great chefs, diligent testers
Amazing meal
And homework efforts do continue.

It was a good down day.
